HATE-LESS Train the Trainer (4/4): Creating Counter-Narrative Videos

Following three HATE-LESS Train the Trainer sessions on Storytelling Through Space, Voices from the Margins, and Emotional Narratives & Media Influence, we are concluding the series with a final focus: how young people can create short, constructive counter-narrative videos that promote empathy, inclusion, and responsible digital action.

On Thursday, 18 June 2026, Evolutionary Archetypes Consulting SL (EAC) youth workers, trainers, educators, and facilitators to join the final session of the four-part HATE-LESS Train the Trainer series:

Creating Counter-Narrative Videos – From Reaction to Responsible Digital Action

Online spaces can be places of connection, creativity, and learning. At the same time, young people may encounter hate speech, disinformation, and harmful narratives that influence how they feel, react, and participate online.

This final HATE-LESS Train the Trainer session focuses on how youth workers can support young people in moving from awareness to action. Instead of responding to harmful narratives with silence or more hate, young people can learn to create short, constructive video messages rooted in empathy, inclusion, critical thinking, and social responsibility.

In this interactive online session, participants will explore how counter-narratives can be used in youth work to challenge hate speech and disinformation in a constructive way. Using participatory approaches inspired by the HATE-LESS methodology and toolkit, youth workers will learn how to guide young people in recognising harmful online narratives and transforming them into responsible, values-based video responses.

Participants will also develop a short participatory video concept using empathy, inclusion, and responsible digital storytelling.

Missed the first two sessions? No problem – each workshop is designed to stand alone, although together they build a powerful toolkit for youth-centred media literacy, participatory storytelling, and counter-narrative creation.

Counter-narrative videos give young people a practical way to respond to harmful online content by offering alternative messages grounded in dignity, inclusion, and care. Through short video creation, young people can practise how to pause, reflect, and communicate values-based responses in ways that feel accessible and relevant to their digital lives.

Participants will also receive a Youthpass certificate, supporting recognition of their learning and participation in the HATE-LESS Train the Trainer series.

The final HATE-LESS Train the Trainer workshop brings the series together by supporting participants in guiding young people from awareness and reflection towards creative, constructive, and responsible digital action.
